The Maltese is one of the oldest European breeds. Its origins are believed to be the Mediterranean islands. References to this breed are frequent in classical literature, and drawings of it can even be found inside the ancient Egyptian pyramids.

The Alaskan Malamute has recently become increasingly popular among ordinary people. This breed has only recently gained popularity, leading many to believe that Malamutes are a relatively recent creation. In fact, they are one of the oldest dog breeds, originating in Alaska over two thousand years ago. This purebred domestic breed bears some resemblance to a wolf, is gentle, and requires constant attention from its owner.

In Africa, in the former territory of Southern Rhodesia (part of the Cape Colony within the British Empire), a remarkable dog breed emerged over a hundred years ago. Its name is the Rhodesian Ridgeback, or African Lion Hound.

Ridgebacks were developed by crossing local comb-haired dogs with specimens brought from Europe. The Boer settlers needed a hunting and farm guard dog well-adapted to local conditions. The new breed had to be predator-resistant and responsive to the dangers of the surrounding environment.

A loyal, energetic companion, a tireless hunter, a talented bloodhound, a star of comics, films, and television shows—all of this describes one of the most popular dog breeds today, the beagle. Photos of these incredibly cute creatures are easy to find online. Their small size, huge eyes, and pleading gaze create the impression that beagle puppies have a calm, almost angelic nature. Therefore, owners are often surprised when a small calico hurricane starts wreaking havoc on their home. To avoid such unpleasant surprises, before buying a beagle puppy, you should research not only prices but also all about the breed's characteristics.

The raccoon dog, despite its name, is not a true dog, much less a raccoon. The only similarities between the raccoon dog and the raccoon are a mask-like pattern on the face, dark gray sideburns, and thick, long fur.
