Other representatives of the fauna
The capybara is a herbivorous mammal, the largest rodent on the planet. Its name comes from the Tupi language and literally translates as "thin grass eater." It is closely related to guinea pigs and mountain pigs, and is also distantly related to the chinchilla and nutria. The species is widespread and, according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature, is not endangered.
The echidna is a rare and unique animal, little studied until recently. It somewhat resembles a hedgehog or porcupine: it has quill-like fur and the ability to curl up into a ball at any sign of danger. However, the animal has one unique feature: a marsupial structure on its abdomen, which it uses to carry eggs and care for its young.
The blobfish belongs to the Psychrolutidae family. It's also known as the Australian goby or Psychrolute. This deep-sea dweller has an unusual appearance, which has made it popular worldwide. Some consider it an alien creature, others simply the ugliest fish in the world. Either way, it's impossible to remain indifferent to the blobfish.
Some traditional Japanese fish dishes are no longer surprising. Sashimi, rolls, and sushi have become firmly established on the menus of Russian gourmets. The only danger from them is overeating. But some Eastern delicacies are prepared with deadly fish. This primarily concerns the pufferfish, better known as the fugu or pufferfish. It is this deadly dish that has made pufferfish famous worldwide, but this is not the only reason they are so interesting.
