Panda
There are two varieties of cute pandas. Both are native to Asia.
The giant panda, or bamboo bear, lives in the mountainous regions of China. It stands 1.2-1.8 meters tall and weighs up to 160 kg. Its distinctive features include thick white fur and unusual coloring. This animal is omnivorous, but essentially feeds exclusively on plants, primarily bamboo. It spends up to 12 hours a day feeding. For a long time, giant pandas were endangered; killing them in China is punishable by death.
The red panda, or cat bear, lives in the southeastern Himalayan Mountains, which encompass parts of China, India, Bhutan, and Nepal. It is medium-sized, reaching up to 64 cm in length, excluding the tail, and weighing up to 6.2 kg. Its distinctive features include a fluffy, hazel-colored coat and a cute, mask-like face. Like the bamboo bear, the red panda spends more than half the day feeding. It is active at night and feeds primarily on plant matter. The red panda is considered an endangered species, one of the reasons for this is its widespread exploitation for its beautiful fur.
Koala
The koala is a funny and cute animal native to Australia. It inhabits eucalyptus forests in coastal areas. An adult koala is 60-80 cm long and weighs up to 15 kg. It feeds exclusively on eucalyptus leaves and shoots, which are deadly to other animals due to their hydrocyanic acid content. Koalas are active at night, but during the day they sleep or sit motionless in trees. During their first year of life, the young remain with their mother. Initially, they remain in the pouch, and then travel on the mother's back or belly, clinging to her fur.
Dwarf lemur
There are several species of lemur. Perhaps the cutest is the pygmy mouse lemur, found in Madagascar's Kirindy Natural Park. This little animal is only about 20 cm long and weighs approximately 50 g. Its large eyes give its face its expressiveness. Its diet consists primarily of insects, fruits, and plants. Dwarf mouse lemurs are nocturnal and are usually found alone or in pairs.
Sugar glider
This animal has many names—sugar glider, pygmy flying squirrel, short-headed flying squirrel, and sugar possum. This small animal is 15-21 cm long and weighs 95-170 g. It lives in Australia, New Guinea, and nearby islands. Its thick fur, large ears, and huge eyes adapted for night vision give it a cute appearance. The possum has a gliding membrane—a fold of skin between its sides and limbs. This membrane allows the animal to glide for up to 50 m after a jump. The gliding squirrel uses its legs and tail to control its flight path.
Fennec fox
The world's smallest fox is the fennec fox. Smaller than a domestic cat, it measures up to 40 cm in length and weighs up to 1.5 kg. It lives in the North African deserts. Its ears reach up to 15 cm in length. They are used not only to better track prey and detect approaching danger, but also to regulate body temperature. The fennec fox is omnivorous, but prefers animal food, such as birds, small rodents, and insects.
Dwarf rabbit
The dwarf, or Polish, rabbit is a popular breed of domestic rabbit. It grows up to 34 cm in length, with a silky, soft coat about 2 cm long. It weighs up to 3 kg, but animals weighing no more than 1.5 kg are preferred for breeding. Like other varieties, the dwarf rabbit is herbivorous. It is active in the evening and at night, hiding during the day.
Mini pig
Miniature pigs are not exactly small animals. The average adult miniature pig weighs 40-80 kg. There are also micro pigs weighing up to 30 kg. These animals are sometimes kept as pets, but there are cases of fraud where ordinary piglets are sold as miniature pigs. Miniature pigs are intelligent and trainable. They are generally omnivorous, but require diet to maintain their health.
