But how can you enjoy the weather when, as soon as you open a window, swarms of ubiquitous flies fly in, forcing the homeowners to spend their time swatting. Some homeowners recommend the popular Agita product, claiming it has effectively gotten rid of these pesky pests. Perhaps it's worth taking a closer look.

The product is manufactured in Austria and is advertised as a fly killer, but it can also be used to control other harmful insects, such as cockroaches and fleas.

Composition and description of the drug

Agita is produced as a fine granular powder. It is beige in color and odorless. The manufacturer, Kvizda, recommends diluting the product with water according to the instructions.

The drug Agita is sold in plastic jars, closed with metal foil and sealed with plastic lids with first-opening control.

Important! Agita is available in 0.24- and 0.9-liter jars, weighing 0.1 and 0.4 kilograms, respectively. There are no other forms of the original product. The manufacturer warns against counterfeits.

• fly sex pheromone Z-9-tricosene - 0.05% (active ingredient)
• lactose (excipient)
• sugar (excipient)

After adding the amount of water specified in the instructions, a white suspension with a beige tint should form.

Operating principle

The active ingredient thiamethoxam is a neonicotinoid with contact-intestinal action, to which the nervous system of flies, fleas and cockroaches reacts. At the slightest contact with the product, the parasite's cell membranes begin to rapidly deteriorate, and eventually the insect dies.

Agita is not an instant-action product, but the pest dies quickly and is guaranteed to die.

To encourage flies to interact more with treated surfaces, the active ingredients include a sex pheromone that attracts the insects. The product's effects begin within approximately four minutes of the pest's initial contact with the product.

Effectiveness compared to other fly repellents

Thanks to its active ingredient, Agita is effective against pests that have already developed resistance to organophosphorus insecticides. Unlike most insecticides, Agita is classified as a low-hazard substance (hazard class IV). If there are no allergies and the instructions are strictly followed, the possibility of side effects is minimized.

Agita is used to kill flies in residential buildings and livestock farms.

Precautionary measures

Despite the low level of danger, the area must be treated using protective equipment. The manufacturer recommends full protective gear:

• Protective gown.
  

  If the area to be treated is small, you can use an old raincoat instead of a store-bought robe.

• Rubber gloves.
  

  Rubber gloves will protect your hands from contact with the product.

• Respirator.
  

  For extremely small volumes of work, a regular medical mask can be used instead of a respirator.

People and animals must be removed from the premises during treatment. To prevent the product from coming into contact with mucous membranes, do not smoke, eat, or drink during the treatment process.

Before treatment, the premises should be prepared, taking into account the following requirements - the preparation must not affect:

• Food products.
  

  Food products that for any reason cannot be refrigerated or removed from the premises should be carefully sealed.

• Dishes.
  

  The product can get into food from the dishes and into the body, causing illness.

• Animal feed.
  

  Like human food, animal feed should also be isolated from accidental contact with the drug.

• Feeders and drinkers.
  

  Pet dishes should also be removed before treating the room.

• Surfaces accessible to animals.
  

  When treating surfaces in areas where animals live, be especially vigilant and apply the product only where they are definitely not able to reach.

After completing the treatment or when going on a break, you must wash your hands with soap and water.

Processing procedure

To prepare the liquid solution, the manufacturer recommends using water at room temperature or slightly warmer. Please note that the prepared suspension is only suitable for use within 24 hours. As you treat the area, stir the mixture every half hour, otherwise it will separate.

The drug Agita can be applied in two ways:

1. With a brush (strokes).
   
   

   When applied with a brush, Agita does not lose its effectiveness for 6 to 8 weeks.

2. Spray.
   

   Agita applied by spraying remains effective for 4 to 6 weeks.

The suspension remaining after treatment must be disposed of taking into account the hazardous nature of the substance, away from water bodies and pastures. Under no circumstances should the drug be poured down the drain.

First aid for poisoning with Agita

When used as directed and with all precautions taken, side effects are generally not observed. However, there is always a risk of individual intolerance to certain components or simply an unpleasant accident.

If you notice any deterioration in your health during the treatment, you should immediately go out into the fresh air or at least into a well-ventilated room.The manufacturer further recommends seeking medical attention to determine the cause of the discomfort.

If the product accidentally gets into your eyes or on your skin, rinse it off immediately with water.

Water should be clean and in large quantities.

If the drug enters the gastrointestinal tract, immediately drink as much liquid as possible: 0.75 to 2-3 liters of water, followed by activated charcoal: at least 10-15 tablets. If the discomfort persists, seek medical attention.

Activated carbon is an adsorbent that reduces the absorption of toxic substances and their spread throughout the body.

No specialized treatments are used to counteract the drug's side effects. In cases of individual intolerance or accidental poisoning, medications are prescribed based on the individual indications.

Today, on my grandfather's advice, I stopped by the veterinary pharmacy, where I bought a fantastic product called Agita 10 WG. It's a granular powder. I won't go into the ingredients, but I'll just say that it contains fly sex hormones. That's interesting, right?

Dilute the contents of the packet in 200 ml of water and then spray it on fly-infested areas. Typically, these areas include warm walls, shady, cluttered areas, rural outhouses, and so on. You already know where flies like to hang out. One packet (priced at 130 rubles) is enough to treat an area of ​​5 square meters. That's according to the instructions, but in reality, I treated a larger area. At first, the flies actually liked the product, but I thought I was wasting my time adding water by eye and not following the proper proportions, as the white liquid doesn't work.

However, five minutes passed after I ran around the house with a spray bottle (I used a regular glass cleaner bottle, very convenient), and the flies had already flown off to their ancestors. Or to the neighbors. I don't really care. The main thing is that Agita 10WG fly repellent really works. And the effect is long-lasting. Some people talk about weeks of fly-free living after treating the area, but I don't believe such a long time. My grandfather already used this poison in his house (where mosquitoes are legion, since the Kuban River is nearby) and noted a three-day effect.
