Holiday season is in full swing: 5 tips for transporting your dog on a plane

Summer is a busy time for active travel. Many vacations take place during this period. Some people prefer to travel with their four-legged friends. But transporting a dog isn't easy. Before buying a plane ticket, it's important to thoroughly prepare. Below are some helpful tips.

Train your dog in advance to use the container in which it will “fly”

When purchasing a special carrier for your pet, it's a good idea to introduce it to its new home well in advance. Try to do this 2-3 weeks before the expected departure date. This will help your dog accept the new environment as normal and reduce stress. You can gradually acclimate it to the crate each day: let it sniff it, allow it to climb in, and spend time inside. Your pet will be thrilled with this new experience!

Visit the airport with your dog

It's best if the dog can get acquainted with the airport building well in advance. On the day of departure, the owner will have a lot to worry about. Anxiety is always contagious. Once the dog knows where it's being taken, it will handle the entire preparation process more calmly.

Don't forget about the veterinary first aid kit

It's best to gather essential supplies in advance. A veterinary first aid kit should include antihistamines, antiseptics, antispasmodics, antidiarrheals, and painkillers. It's always better to be safe than sorry than to try to seek help in a foreign country. This medication, administered promptly, can help stop the progression of the disease and, in some cases, save lives.

Stock up on diapers

Traveling is quite a challenge for a dog. Before you leave, it's essential to purchase a large pack of diapers. Stressful situations can make your pet want to go potty more often. Make sure you have a supply of the necessary supplies. Be sure to line the diaper in the carrier, as your dog will be confined to a confined space for several hours during the flight.

Don't forget about water and a bowl

Food and water should be placed in the carrier. The dog will be able to refresh itself and recuperate during the journey. The owner should ensure their pet has everything they need in advance.

So, transporting a dog on a plane is easy. Just follow some specific rules. The happiness of your four-legged friend depends entirely on the owner. It's up to them to ensure their pet's complete comfort.

What a pity that you can't give a MINUS!!!!!
      Transporting animals by plane -
      1. First of all, animals weighing up to 8 kg (in some airlines up to 5-6 kg) are allowed to be transported in the cabin, animals weighing up to 45-50 kg (together with a dog) - separately, in a special heated cargo compartment of the aircraft, animals weighing over 50 kg - registration only through cargo at the cargo terminal, transportation in the same special cargo compartment
      2. When booking a ticket, immediately find out the rules for transportation and reserve a place for your pet in the cabin or in baggage
      3. When booking a seat in the cabin, check the dimensions of the carrier; companies like S7 are inadequate, requiring a carrier that is 20 cm high, which is impossible in principle.
      4. Check the pet's veterinary passport—it must be up to date, all vaccinations must be current, and the animal must be microchipped or tagged. A microchipped pet is required for travel to Europe.
      5. You need to arrive for registration in advance, because while they register the animal, you will have to pay for its transportation, plus go through all the further customs procedures.
