The Burmese cat is one of the most beautiful and mysterious modern breeds. The ancestors of these affectionate, furry creatures lived in Buddhist temples in Burma and were considered sacred animals for thousands of years. In Europe, this fascinating breed was only registered in 1925, after the French billionaire Vanderbilt purchased two kittens from monks for a staggering sum.
Unfortunately, one of the purchased cats did not survive the rigors of travel through the East. The second cat survived and became the ancestor of all modern European Birman cats.
What are the characteristics of a Burmese cat?Bobtails are quite strong and powerful animals, weighing quite a bit. An adult cat can weigh around 10 kg, but the average weight is typically 5-8 kg.
