Pets' unusual behavior often shocks their owners. Cats, for example, have many strange habits. But there's a logical explanation for them.
Why does a cat take food out of its bowl?
This can happen for two reasons:
- The animal's whiskers contain a large number of nerve endings, which can cause discomfort if they touch the edges of the bowl while eating.
- Pets often remove food from their bowls even if there's a water bowl nearby. Cats drink only clean water and don't tolerate any debris in it, so they remove food.
It's very easy to break your cat of this habit: simply change the bowl, replacing it with a bowl without a rim. The water bowl should be placed a little further away, so the cat will learn that food particles won't fall into the water and will eventually stop taking food out of the bowl.
Why does my cat drink from the tap?
It's not uncommon to notice that your cat won't go near the water bowl, drinking only running tap water. This is because running tap water is much cleaner than water that's been sitting for a while.
Another reason could be that the container is not very convenient or that it has absorbed foreign odors.
The cat runs around after leaving a "surprise" in the litter box.
There are two reasons why a cat runs around the room after using the litter box:
- The pet is trying to attract the owner's attention in order to receive praise. This often happens if the animal has only recently begun using the litter box.
- The second reason may be to attract the owner's attention so that he will pay attention to the dirty litter box and change the litter in it.
The cat crawls under the blanket and sleeps there.
There are several answers to this question:
- Warmth seeking. Some animals have a much higher body temperature than humans, so they seek warmer places, especially during the colder months. This could be a radiator or a blanket.
- Comfort. Domestic cats always prefer to be in comfortable conditions. One of the most comfortable places in the house is a soft bed. And sleeping under a blanket is doubly comfortable.
- Rest. When the environment is bright and noisy, animals don't get enough sleep. Adequate rest is essential for cats, as it allows their immune system to function properly and tissue renewal to occur.
Unusual behavior in pets shouldn't cause any concern or alarm. Habits that may seem strange to people are commonplace for animals.
