After moving to a new home, a family from the UK discovered a persistent stray cat and took him in.
Several years ago, a family from the UK moved into a new house. Some time after moving in, they noticed a black and white cat near the door. The new tenants gave the cat some food, and after that, he became a regular guest.
Leila says the cat was very thin and dirty. It wasn't clear he had a home, but he ate all the food offered. The stray was named Tom.
Tom was afraid of people, but the more often he came to this house for food, the closer he managed to get. Almost every day, he sat near the front door and meowed. One day, he allowed Leila to pet him. She noticed that the animal had a lot of fleas. Turns out, he was a stray cat.
Leila says they started asking neighbors about Tom, but no one had noticed him before. She posted in a local Facebook group, but no one there could identify their cat either.
Then Leila and a neighbor took the cat to the veterinary clinic. Tom seemed to sense that someone was trying to catch him and ran away, so it took the girls a second try to catch him.
At the clinic, the cat underwent a full medical examination and was also spayed. After the surgery, he was sent to Leila's home to recover. Tom was so frightened that she decided to keep him forever. After a few months, the former stray enjoyed living in a home environment. He was especially afraid of rooms; apparently, he had never lived in a house before. Over time, he got used to them. Leila's family also has another ginger cat, with whom Tom has become friends.
One day, one of Leila's neighbors saw Tom at her house and told her he'd been seeing the cat in the area for two years. He was constantly fighting with other cats, which was why the man hadn't been able to adopt him, but he always left Tom food. Apparently, seeing people move into the previously empty house, the cat hoped to get some food from them, too. But he gained much more: love and a home. The neighbor was overjoyed to learn that Tom had finally found a home.
