In nature, every species fends for itself, constantly struggling and competing with other animals, which fosters evolution. But sometimes, seemingly irreconcilable animals begin to warm up to each other, and friendships develop between them. And it's especially surprising when wild and domestic animals find common ground and interests.
A dog named Tinny and a fox named Sniffer
The friends love spending time together. Even as a baby, Lisa began visiting, looking for something tasty. Gradually, she became friends with Tinny.
This relationship allowed the dog's owner, photographer Thorgier Berg, to learn a lot about foxes, their habits and character.
He plans to publish a book about these unusual friends. The photographer hopes that such stories will help change people's attitudes toward foxes, encourage the conservation of their wild populations, and combat the fur trade.
Friendship between a fox and a Van cat
They have been inseparable since 2012. The friends live in the Turkish village of Chitoren, near Lake Van.
The unusual tandem was first noticed by local fishermen when the fox and cat were sharing the remains of their catch.
Since then, they always spoil this couple with fresh fish.
Ajanta chimpanzee and white tiger cubs
This monkey lives in South Carolina, on the territory of the Institute for Rare and Endangered Species.
She helps care for the helpless cubs of other animals. She acted as a substitute mother to the chimpanzee tiger cubs when the mother suffered severe stress during a hurricane and it became dangerous to leave the cubs with her.
The friendship of a lion, a tiger, and a bear, who have been living together for 15 years
A Bengal tiger, an African lion and a black bear live in complete harmony under one roof.
In 2001, these animals were found as cubs in the basement of an Atlanta home, where they were kept in appalling conditions.
After treatment, the animals were placed in the Noah's Ark shelter in Georgia. There, they live as a close-knit family, despite their physical differences.
Dog and owl
And two dogs even managed to make friends with the owls.
This is Tork the dog and Shrek the owl. The dog took the six-month-old chick under her wing and became its mother.
These are photographs of pets by German animal photographer Tanja Brandt.
She takes care of birds of prey. They live in her house along with her dog, Inga.
The Dog and the Boar
This small, hungry and defenseless piglet was found in a field.
The people fed him and took him in. The little pig immediately found a friend—a dog named Candy. They've been inseparable ever since.
Sometimes animals break our stereotypes and set an example of how friendship should be. And not only pets, but also predators, touch us with their devotion and warmth.
