Nature has a sense of humor, too. Four felines, whose unusual appearance has captured the hearts of millions, are enjoying widespread popularity among internet users.
Hamilton the Cat's Whiskers
Hamilton's black and white coat is quite common, but he has one unique feature. His face features a curled, handlebar-style whisker, similar to that worn by the famous detective character Hercule Poirot.
It's hard to believe, but before the cat became an internet star, he lived in a shelter. It was from there that American comedian Jay Stowe from San Francisco adopted him. He admits he couldn't resist the animal's charm and unusual appearance.
The man later decided to share photos of Sir Hamilton online, which immediately went viral. Facebook and Instagram users loved the photos of the "mustached gentleman," and they began writing captions for them.
One of them was, "I once saved a fireman from a tree." Hamilton's owner found the joke so funny that he mentioned it in an interview.
Sam the cat with funny eyebrows
Four-legged Sam from New York has become a new Instagram star. That's because he's the only cat in the world with bushy black eyebrows against a snow-white coat. The bizarre stripes on his forehead give him such a comical and pitiful look that even the most hard-hearted internet user couldn't remain indifferent.
You'll often see photos of pets with unusual "bangs" and "whiskers" online, but I've never seen one with "eyebrows." Naturally, the cat doesn't have eyebrows; it's simply a characteristic of its coloring, but it's precisely this characteristic that has made it popular.
Sam's story began tragically. In 2012, his current owner picked him up off the street. He was a well-groomed cat, but despite numerous searches for his previous owners, no one came forward. It's possible the animal was simply disposed of in such a banal and cruel manner.
Today, the cat's life has improved. He is loved not only by his family but also by thousands of social media users. New photos of the cat instantly spread online, becoming the basis for memes and photo-ops.
The current owners even earn a small income from their pet's "eyebrows" account. However, all proceeds are donated to homeless animals. Sam is also a regular participant in various charity events. He "fights" for the rights of wild and domestic animals, and "speaks out" against illegal dog fighting, animal euthanasia, and animal testing.
Marble Scrappy
Scrappy, a British cat, fell victim to a disease unusual for four-legged friends. This made him one of the most famous cats in the world, followed by thousands of followers on his Instagram account.
The disease had no effect on the pet's health, but it did transform his traditional monochrome black coat into a marbled pattern. The mutation began to manifest itself as Scrappy aged. Contrasting white markings appeared one after another on his jet-black coat, soon covering the cat's entire body.
The concerned owner took the pet to the veterinarian, where he was diagnosed with a rare condition in cats: vitiligo. This condition develops due to the uncontrolled loss of melanin. It's not life-threatening, but there's no cure.
Sadly, the cat passed away in 2017 at the age of 20. However, his social media page is still active, and his following remains strong.
Two-faced cat Venus
A charming cat with mismatched eyes and a sweet nature lives in South Carolina. Once a stray kitten with an unusual coat, Venus is now one of the most popular representatives of the feline world. Millions of followers admire Venus's beauty on social media.
Her unusual appearance has attracted the attention of not only ordinary internet users but also geneticists. The cat exhibits pronounced heterochromia, causing one eye to be green and the other blue. However, this phenomenon is not uncommon. It occurs not only in animals but also in humans.
The cat's contrasting coloring is truly valuable. Its fur comes in three primary colors:
- white;
- black;
- ginger.
This coloring is called tortoiseshell and is common to many cats of various breeds and their non-pedigree counterparts. However, in Venus, the colors are divided by a completely straight line, with both halves of the face being monochromatic and symmetrical. This is a truly unique phenomenon, previously unseen.
Online, the "two-faced" cat is often referred to as "night and day." Venus's fans continue to follow her life and share new photos of the animal.
It's unclear how these unique pets feel about their popularity. But judging by their contented faces, they've found what they were looking for—a home and a loving family. Perhaps their story will make this world a little kinder and draw attention to the problems of homeless animals.
