Domestic dogs are susceptible to many diseases that can occasionally affect humans as well. Large animals often suffer from joint problems, especially in old age and when fed improperly. To restore normal mobility, specialists have developed Stride Plus. This product contains all the necessary substances to normalize metabolic processes in joints and prevent further cartilage deterioration.
Composition and release form
The pharmacological agent contains several active components that have a positive effect on the functioning of the dog's musculoskeletal system:

- hyaluronic acid;
- chondroitin sulfate;
- glucosamine;
- methylsulfanylmethane.
As an additional substance, the composition contains a filler consisting of a small amount of protein, carbohydrates, vegetable fiber, fats, water and a small proportion of dry residue.
The medication is available as a thick, light-brown syrup, packaged in 150, 200, and 500 ml bottles. Each bottle comes in a cardboard box and includes instructions. It is recommended to store it in a cool place, away from moisture and direct sunlight.
The convenient dispenser makes it easy to use; one press (1 time) produces 1 ml of syrup.
Prescription of the drug
Due to the presence of hyaluronic acid in the composition, the medication has a pronounced analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect, blocking substances that contribute to the development of the inflammatory process in the joint capsuleChondroitin stimulates the restoration of cartilage in the joint, preventing its complete destruction.

The drug is used not only for therapeutic but also for preventive purposes on the recommendation of a veterinarian.
Glucosamine plays a key role, increasing cartilage's resistance to the negative impacts of external and internal factors. These properties allow the medication to be used for the following conditions:
- osteoarthritis and osteochondrosis of varying severity, characterized by damage to the intervertebral discs, namely the fibrous ring;
- weakening of the pet's immunity;
- arthrosis in the initial and advanced stages;
- rheumatoid arthritis;
- joint dysplasia;
- impaired joint mobility as a result of injury;
- regular, hard and long-term training;
- decreased mobility of the animal during illness or due to old age;
- a disruption of metabolic processes, accompanied by a disruption in the supply of essential substances to the cartilage;
- Bursitis is an inflammatory disease of the joint capsule that develops after an injury or with heavy load on the joint, accompanied by the accumulation of purulent contents in the joint cavity.
Contraindications
Despite its high-quality and beneficial composition, the drug has contraindications:
- animal intolerance to any of the components of the pharmacological agent;
- violation of storage rules for the product;
- ulcerative lesions of the stomach and intestines;
- gestation period in dogs;
- pet weight less than 1 kg;
- a serious condition of an animal when it refuses food and water.
Do not administer this medication without a veterinarian's prescription and prior diagnostic testing. This may lead to serious complications.
Instructions for use
After receiving the diagnostic results, the veterinarian determines the appropriate dosage for the individual animal, as well as the duration of treatment. The dosage is determined based on the dog's weight:
- small dogs weighing no more than 5 kg are prescribed 2 ml of syrup per day;
- For medium-sized pets (5 to 15 kg), it is recommended to take 4 ml per day;
- large dogs, whose body weight ranges from 15–30 kg, are given 8 ml per day;
- very large animals (over 30 kg) are prescribed 12 ml daily.
The duration of treatment with products containing chondroitin, glucosamine, and hyaluronic acid depends on the degree of damage to the joint, the pet's activity, diet, and the body's sensitivity to the drug. Some animals require 3-4 weeks to fully restore mobility and eliminate signs of inflammation, while others require more than 2 months to achieve a lasting therapeutic effect.
There are two ways to administer the medicine: squeeze a small amount of syrup onto the tongue or mix the daily dose with the dog's morning meal. The second option is preferable, as most dogs do not take the medicine without food. However, if you plan to administer it to your dog directly, you can unscrew the cap and draw up the medicine with a regular disposable syringe.
For preventative purposes, it is recommended to use the product for no longer than 3 weeks in a row. The prophylactic dose for small dogs is 1 ml per day, for medium dogs – 2 ml, for large dogs – 4 ml, and for very large dogs – 6 ml. The frequency of preventative courses is once every 6–12 months, depending on age.
Prevention can begin for very large breeds from the age of 3 years; medium-sized dogs without signs of disorder are allowed to undergo courses from the age of 5 years.
Possible side effects
Even if the instructions for use are followed, adverse reactions may occur, and if they are not followed, the risk of complications increases severalfold. The most common side effect is severe allergy, which manifests as dry mouth, watery eyes, thirst, refusal to eat, and red eyes.
The pet may become restless and scratch constantly. Examination of the mucous membrane of the eyes may reveal redness. In severe cases, an allergic reaction is accompanied by swelling of the throat and choking. Sometimes, with prolonged use, loss of appetite and vomiting may occur.
If symptoms of allergy or other complications appear, it is recommended to stop treatment and consult a veterinarian.
Analogues
Stride Plus has no absolute analogue in composition.However, for the treatment of joint diseases, veterinarians often prescribe medications with chondroprotective properties, similar to those used in humans. The most commonly used are: Glucosamine, Chondroitin sulfate in tablets and lyophilisate for injection solution, and Mucosat in the form of a solution for intramuscular injection.
Among veterinary medications, Nutri Horse Chondro stands out, with a similar composition and therapeutic effect. However, this medication is used to treat musculoskeletal disorders in horses. Despite this, it is often prescribed to dogs because of its profound effects on the body and its ability to prevent complications. Veterinarians calculate the dosage individually for each dog.
Stride Plus is an effective treatment for musculoskeletal disorders in dogs. The medication is considered high-quality, effective, and safe for pets when used correctly and following veterinarian recommendations.
