Dogs often experience eczema, dermatitis, or non-infectious inflammation due to various internal and external factors. Veterinarians often prescribe the reliable and highly effective drug Exekan. This synthetic hormonal agent reduces itching and inflammation and accelerates the healing process of eczema. It is more effective than natural glucocorticosteroids. It should only be used after a veterinary examination and clinical trials. A specialist will also prescribe treatment to address the underlying cause of the eczema or dermatitis.
Release form and composition

The drug belongs to the group of low-hazard substances (hazard class 4 according to GOST) and in recommended doses does not have a negative effect
Exekan for dogs is a hormonal anti-inflammatory drug. It comes in the form of 8g sugar cubes. Each package contains two blisters, each containing 8 cubes. After oral administration, they dissolve quickly and are absorbed into the bloodstream.
The drug has several active components, each of which performs its own functions:
- DexamethasoneThis is a synthetic glucocorticosteroid that has an anti-inflammatory effect, reduces itching, swelling, and irritation, and improves the condition of the coat in animals. However, the substance has no effect on viruses and bacteria, so before starting treatment, it is important to ensure that the cause of the disease is not pathogenic. It does not accumulate in the body.
- Nicotinamide (vitamin PP) and pyridoxine (B6). It enhances the effect of the first component. Vitamins have a positive effect on the condition of the skin in various conditions. They are well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract.
- MethionineIt is an essential amino acid that is not produced by the body. It is used to acidify urine and promote detoxification.
Exekan also contains sucrose.
This medicine, in addition to its anti-allergic effect, has a positive effect on the dog’s entire body:
- normalizes the process of amino acid metabolism;
- prevents fat deposition in the liver and accelerates the process of removing toxins from the organ;
- restores damaged skin and stimulates hair growth.
Indications
Exekam quickly relieves all symptoms of allergic and non-infectious inflammation. Its main indications are:
- acute and chronic dermatitis (seborrheic, flea);
- eczema of allergic origin, which is accompanied by itching and scratching.
Dosage

If you stop taking the medication abruptly, your pet may experience polyuria (impaired urination) or polydipsia (uncontrollable thirst).
Exekan is administered orally, either by hand or by force-feeding it into the dog's food or drinking water. The treatment course consists of two phases. The first phase lasts 4 days. During this period, the dosage depends on the dog's weight.
| Dog weight | Dosage |
| Dwarf dogs (1–5 kg) | 0.5 cube per day |
| Small dogs (5–15 kg) | 1 cube per day |
| Medium dogs (15–30 kg) | 1.5 cubes per day |
| Large dogs (30 kg and above) | 2 cubes per day |
The second phase lasts 8 days. The drug is administered at half the initial dose.
During treatment, it is necessary to strictly adhere to the dosage. It is prohibited to interrupt therapy on your own, since the symptoms of the disease may disappear in the first 4 days, which does not mean recovery.
It is highly recommended not to skip a dose. This will reduce the therapeutic effect. If a dose is missed, resume taking Exekan at the prescribed dosage and schedule. If it is time for the next dose, do not take a double dose.
After treatment, the dosage is reduced gradually - for 2 days, it is recommended to give the dog 1/4 of the recommended dose.
