Every dog needs to be walked daily. But it's important to walk your pet properly: keep them on a leash in public places, keep them clean, and only walk in areas where it's legal.
Places where walking dogs is prohibited
If you don't want to pay fines, you shouldn't walk your pet in the following places:
- Beaches, especially city ones.
- Children's playgrounds. Even if your dog is child-friendly and on a leash, it's safer for both the dog and the children to avoid such places.
- Cemeteries.
- Areas adjacent to educational and medical institutions.
- During mass events involving large gatherings of people. These include rallies, festivals, concerts, and protests.
- The territory of a forest area, park or square, if required by the rules of the place.
- Amusement parks.
What can you get a fine for?
Walking dogs in unauthorized areas and other dog walking offenses are administrative offenses and are punishable by a fine. The maximum fine is 5,000 rubles. You will be fined for:
- A walk in a forest, square or park without a leash.
- Traveling on public transport without a leash and muzzle.
- Finding an animal in a store without a muzzle.
- A pet relieving itself in an area where it is prohibited.
- Walking a pet on a playground or the grounds of a child care facility.
- Keeping a dog in a dormitory or communal apartment without the consent of the neighbors.
- Organizing and participating in dog fights.
- Walking an animal while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Where to walk a dog in the city
After all the fines and bans, the question arises: "Where can I walk my dog?" By law, this must be done in designated areas and training grounds, but experience shows that such areas are few and far between, and often inadequately equipped. Walking is permitted in parks, squares, or wooded areas, as long as the area's regulations allow. Some parks have designated areas for walking animals, as indicated by special signs. You can walk your pet in your backyard or yard, but be sure your pet is muzzled, doesn't bark, and doesn't harm you.
