I've been the owner of a smooth-haired dachshund kennel for many years, and I'd like to write a review of this breed. I've dreamed of having a dachshund since childhood. But our family was constantly moving, so I wasn't allowed to have pets. When I became independent, I immediately bought a puppy of my favorite breed. Over time, I had more and more dachshunds, which determined my career.
As of today in my house there are five adult dogs living there, and puppies are born periodically. I could write at length about these small and cheerful dogs. We've had two dachshunds in our house for five years now – a boy named Gosha and a girl named Dina. Each dog has its own personality. Gosha is everyone's best friend and the biggest troublemaker. He loves to rub against people's legs like a cat and gets cranky when he's not in the mood. He'll lie there, indifferent and sad, until his dad carries him around.
As a puppy, Gosha learned to go to sleep only when his dad put him in his crib and wrapped him in a blanket. And now, as an adult, he still sleeps like that. He'll never go to sleep on his own, but will follow you around and look sadly into your eyes until you put him down and tuck him in. Just like Gosha. can make eyes – it's simply incredible! There, they actively help him find game that has fallen into the bushes. Our pets especially love chasing birds; when they see them, they become overexcited and run like mad. Calling them back is impossible.
Both Dina and Gosha love digging holes in the garden, but they leave the vegetable beds alone. Dina is a great retriever and enjoys gnawing on rocks, though she's not short of calcium. Each year, the dogs produce two or three litters. Consequently, almost every family in our village already has a dachshund. It's unclear which dogs roam the streets more often—dachshunds or mongrels.
In my review I would like to say that dachshunds are excellent hunters and companion dogs. They are very miss their owner and are very loyal to him. Even without training, they will understand you.
