Caucasian Shepherd or Alabai: Which is Stronger?

Every dog ​​owner probably has a favorite breed—the most beautiful and intelligent. Some are characterized by strength. Enthusiasts often argue about which is stronger, the Alabai or the Caucasian Shepherd. And the debate is justified, as these dogs are very similar.

What is an Alabai capable of?

The Asian Alabai, despite its size, is a fairly balanced and calm dog. The breed was bred to guard sheep from wolves and to protect homes.

These dogs rarely attack people, although they may bark excessively or simply become wary. This is how they demonstrate their importance to their owner and their willingness to always protect them. This is why representatives of this breed readily obey commands and are generally easy to train.

These animals are very caring towards children and get along well with them, as well as with all other family members.

The typical height of this breed is 50–80 cm, and the weight is 40–80 kg. They live for 12–13 years with proper care.

What is the Caucasian Shepherd Dog capable of?

These dogs are more hot-tempered and impulsive. They are distinguished by excellent reflexes, a swift attack when necessary, and a high pain threshold.

In a family setting, a Caucasian wolfhound usually unconditionally recognizes only its owner, but also gets along well with other family members it grew up with. It rarely acknowledges strangers, but does not attack unnecessarily.

These dogs stand 66–75 cm tall and weigh 40–75 kg. In these respects, Caucasian Shepherds are inferior to the Alabai. They also live slightly shorter lives, averaging 11 years.

Who is stronger?

This is a long-standing and seemingly endless debate. Both breeds are considered second only to the pit bull in fighting ability.

The Caucasian Shepherd attacks faster and more swiftly, and is much more aggressive in appearance. If such a dog senses an enemy's weakness, it will quickly gain the advantage.

However, the Alabai is less emotional and significantly more calculating. It is ready to wear down its opponent with constant attacks, which it knows how to vary. For this reason, many experts consider it the best dog. However, much depends on the dog's character and training.

There's no definitive answer to this question. Everything depends on the specific specimens of the breed. Each has its own advantages and strengths, which need to be developed.
