Cats are mystical, mysterious, and unpredictable animals. On the one hand, they're adorable pets who'll happily climb into your lap and sing a little song. Who would have thought they possess a sense of duty and selflessness, that they can be true friends and save you from trouble? These heroic cats have become world-famous.
Tara vs. the ferocious dog
A cat named Tara is the beloved pet of Jeremy's family. Tara's courage and bravery have earned her worldwide popularity.
One day, Jeremy was playing in his yard when he was attacked by a neighbor's dog. The animal latched onto the boy's leg and inflicted several serious bites. There were no adults nearby. This story could have ended very tragically.
And yet, the dog didn't manage to cause any serious injuries. Tara reacted instantly and rushed to her owner's aid. Without thinking, she pounced on the dog, forcing it to release the child. Then she chased the dog away entirely. And it raced away.
The boy's family insisted that such behavior was unusual for their beloved cat, and this act surprised them greatly. Now Jeremy considers his cat a hero, and the whole family is proud of her. Meanwhile, Tara continues to stroll around the yard, unaware of her worldwide fame.
Fred, who exposed the scammer
The New York Police Department employed an unusual officer—a cat named Fred. By profession, this feline was a true undercover agent and spy.
The animal, suffering from pneumonia, was taken in by an assistant district attorney. Thus began Fred's journey into the service of the law.
He was employed by the prosecutor's office as an undercover agent. One of the cat spy's cases involved exposing a criminal veterinarian who was operating without a license, defrauding clinic customers, and cruelly treating animals.
Fred feigned illness and got an appointment with a fraudster. As a result of the operation, the dishonest doctor was exposed and brought to justice, and the valiant worker received a bonus from the mayor. But in 2006, the little hero ran away from home and was hit by a car.
Scarlett's best mom
Another example of selflessness and sacrifice was demonstrated by the homeless cat Scarlett. Back in 1996, the cat, overcoming pain, saved her kittens.
Then, an abandoned garage in Brooklyn, where the cat lived with her litter, caught fire. Firefighters arrived on the scene and began extinguishing the blaze.
One of them noticed something unusual: a cat carrying kittens out of a fire. Her fur was singed, her ears were singed, and her eyes were burned, but the mother didn't abandon her kittens.
She returned to the fire again and again until the last kitten was saved. After that, the mother carefully checked each one, poking them with her burnt nose, and only then did she lose consciousness.
The heroine and her kittens were taken to a veterinary clinic, where they received medical attention. However, one kitten died. The others eventually recovered and were adopted in pairs.
Scarlett herself was adopted by a woman from Brooklyn. After these events, the cat lived another 12 long years, and her fame continues to this day.
The Cobra Tamer Cat
Another guardian of his owners was found in India. The cat bravely dealt with the enemy and saved the children.
A venomous cobra entered the home of an Indian family with children. The family's pet, without hesitation, pounced on the intruder and engaged in a fight with the snake.
The cat grabbed the cobra and carried it outside, away from the children and the house. The family's owner noticed this and rushed to the aid of the brave rescuer, calling snake catchers along the way. The family was saved from the attack, and the hero himself was unharmed.
Musician's Bob
Perhaps the most famous ginger cat, whose encounter changed the life of one street musician. This is precisely the case when two people met for a reason. Each needed the other.
A cheeky ginger cat once snuck into the home of James Bowen, a street musician struggling with drug addiction. They've been together ever since.
James was penniless, but he didn't throw out the intruder. On the contrary, he nursed him back to health after a fight with the neighbor's dog and used his last money to buy treats for his friend.
Since Bob refused to leave his new owner's side for a minute, the musician took him with him to work. The ginger cat became a favorite among the English street people.
To prevent Bob from getting lost, James bought him a leash and harness. And one of the cat's local fans knitted him a scarf. That's how the fame of the street cat Bob, as many know him, began.
The newfound friend literally saved James from a terrible addiction. He gave him the strength to build a new, better life. The musician claimed that Bob somehow knew, sensed, that he needed him.
In gratitude, the owner wrote the biographical novel "A Street Cat Named Bob," which became a worldwide bestseller. The novel spawned several sequels and a film adaptation of the same name.
Our little brothers are much smarter and more resourceful than they might seem. And we need them just as much as they need us. In return for our love and care, they give us something much more – their lives.
