Grandma's Siamese Cat Bravely Takes on a Burglar

Dogs are typically considered guardians and protectors of the home. But cats are no slouch. My grandparents had a furry companion who could give any guard dog a run for his money. Sadly, Marquis passed away 10 years ago, but everyone remembers his bravery.

My relatives once had a Siamese cat named Marquis. He was quite the feisty cat. He didn't like affection, but he loved to scratch and bite. Everyone got into trouble—owners and guests alike. But my grandparents still loved him dearly and adapted to living with such an unusual cat.

The Marquis's favorite haunt was the closet in the living room. He'd climb to the very top, nestle among cardboard boxes and stacks of books, and doze. But if anyone opened the closet or simply walked past, the Marquis would awaken from his light sleep and dive straight at their "enemy."

Grandma and Grandpa and everyone who visited their home had long since gotten used to the four-legged parachutist's habits and simply avoided that ill-fated closet. But one day, an uninvited "guest" descended on the apartment, unaware that such a belligerent pet was living there.

It happened one summer night. It was scorching hot, and the windows in all the rooms were open. When my grandparents went to bed, a burglar broke in through the living room window. It wasn't difficult—it was the first floor, after all.

Once inside the apartment, the thief, without hesitation, headed for the closet in search of his "treasure." But two ominous green eyes were already watching him from above. As soon as the thief attempted to open the door, the Marquis pounced on his head and dug his claws into his shiny bald head with all his might.

Whether from surprise, fear, or pain, the thief screamed loudly throughout the apartment. The grandfather, a former front-line soldier, kept his cool and subdued the hapless thief.

Meanwhile, Grandma was already dialing 911. The police arrived quickly and took away the scratched-up Fantômas. The officers couldn't hide their admiration for Marquis's actions. And the hero himself was already sleeping peacefully on his wardrobe, as if nothing had happened.

The next day, the police officers came to the grandparents again to express their gratitude to them, and especially to Marquis, for their help in capturing the dangerous criminal.

As it turned out, law enforcement had been hunting him for a long time. In the last six months alone, he'd managed to rob 10 apartments. Marquis was given half a kilo of sausages as a reward.
