Police took in a squirrel that was chasing a man.

A baby squirrel mistook a man for his mother and chased him in the German city of Karlsruhe. Police arrived, captured the animal, fed it, and handed it over to an animal shelter.

Early one morning a few days ago, the police in Karlsruhe, Germany, received a call.

A local resident called to report that a squirrel was stalking him. He was extremely concerned and asked for a police patrol to be dispatched immediately to his home to resolve the issue.

Police officers carefully feed a baby squirrel

At eight o'clock in the morning, the patrol arrived at the given address. A baby squirrel was found near the house.

The "attacker" was caught by police officers and taken to the station.

The little animal was almost exhausted. After the police officers carefully fed him, he immediately fell asleep. At the station, the little squirrel was named Karl-Friedrich and made the department's mascot.

He was later transferred to an animal rescue center, where he currently resides.

According to police officer Kristina Krents, the animal most likely lost its mother and mistook the man for her. This is what prompted the pursuit.

Karlsruhe and its surrounding towns are full of trees, lakes, and parks, home not only to squirrels but also to many other animals. This is why the city is called "green."
